Essential literature

  • Blue cover of the book titled 'Alcoholics Anonymous' with embossed text.

The Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous

Known as the "Big Book," the basic text of Alcoholics Anonymous has helped millions of people recover from alcoholism since the first edition appeared in 1939. Chapters describing the A.A. recovery program — the original Twelve Steps — and the personal histories of A.A.'s co-founders remain unchanged since the original, while new stories have been added to the personal histories with each edition.

  • Gold medallion with 'HIW' text on a blue background, labeled 'Daily Reader.'

    How It Works Daily Reader

This textbook acts as a comprehensive guide for the How It Works program, designed to assist individuals on their path to addiction recovery. It features daily readings from the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous for members attending meetings.

Additionally, the book includes the history of the How It Works program and a guide to the meeting format, offering essential insights for both newcomers and seasoned participants. By consolidating these resources, it facilitates easier engagement and a more effective recovery experience.

  • How It Works Global Step Workbook

How It Works Global Step Workbook

This workbook acts as a companion to the How It Works Global program, designed to assist individuals on their path to recovery from alcolohism and addiction.

Members of the group can use this workbook during their progress through the How It Works application of the Alcoholics Anonymous Twelve Steps of recovery, as a printed version of the worksheets used in group meetings.

It also features the readings and meditations used in the daily HIWG meetings, all part of our structured approach to recovery.
