How It Works Global

The “How It Works Global” (HIWG) group offers a straightforward and effective program of recovery from alcoholism based on the principles of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA).

The foundation of recovery from alcoholism is believed to be deflation of ego so that individuals can hear the answer from those who have found this solution.

HIWG meeting format  emphasizes easy-to-use tools, spiritual connection, Big Book study, assistance with the 12 Steps, available sponsorship, and strong community support.

The HIWG provides several online meetings every day of the year to both newcomers and long-term members worldwide through captioned Zoom, in any language, making it accessible to anyone needing help with alcoholism.

The HIWG program’s inclusive invitation extends to anyone looking for effective support in their recovery.

INFORMATION FOR NEWCOMERS

Meetings are held five times per day, seven days a week.

  • Every Sunday the 07:30am PDT / 10:30 am EDT / 3:30pm BST / 4:30pm CEST meeting is focused on one of the chapters of The Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. We read a complete chapter with other members and share about it. This offers a great opportunity to share Experience, Strength and Hope.

  • The last Saturday of every month we come together to celebrate those achieving extended periods of sobriety.

    The How It Works group, designates a separate day, the last Saturday of the month at 9am PST, to give special recognition to those achieving extended periods of sobriety.

    By holding a separate “Cake Day” each month, special attention can be directed at the “Sobriety Celebrants” without detracting from the regular meeting and its focus on the topic of the daily reading.

    The purpose of the Group Conscience process was to create unity in the group. The How It Works process allows all the members working together to accomplish what they could not do alone. It also expands usefulness of the group and its members to newcomers.
